Star Trek XXIII: The Search for a Job

This was a friends only entry until somebody convinced me to make it public.

March 17th will be a day that I will never forget because it shows me just how much one company can piss me off.

In the early morning hours of the 17th, I thought I was doing a good job, 5 pallets by 1 AM, and then I got a call from my significant other. First of all, I admit that I should not have been talking on my cell phone while on the clock, but it wasn’t a long conversation. I promptly told them to call back later, and ended the conversation.

Fast forward to 6:30 AM, I was called into the back office, and was given a verbal warning for “talking dirty” on my cell phone. At the same time, I was complained to for the 3,000,000th time about my production capabilities. Then came the bomb shell, THEY FIRED ME FOR INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE.

Before I go any farther, I must make a confession to you all here on my LJ, and must confide in you all with this secret. I am not straight, I am gay. It’s no big deal to me, but it relates to this subject because I feel that I was fired on the basis of my sexual preference. A person claimed that I was talking dirty on my cell phone to my boyfriend which I was not, the extent of the conversation may have been “I love you”, but I don’t think that was offensive in any way. More or less, this has shown how much I have waisted the last 9 months of my life for a company that just did not care.

I must also confide in my friends to not spead this around, this is a very personal issue that I wanted to share with you because not only is this an atrocity, but it is an insult to who I am as a person, and I do not intend to let this matter be a victory for such moral hatemongers such as the company I used to work for (I will never speak their name again in this forum). If you do not agree with me, that is OK, it won’t violate my friendship or acquaintenceship with you, but I just hope you would keep an open mind to this very serious issue.

Just keep this in mind, the person who turned me in that night, I had the gall to consider them a good friend.

Goes to show you how much your personal life affects your job life. In other words, leave it at home.

BTW, I think I will have a new job by the end of the week. More details as they warrant.

  1. What bastards. You probably have a good wrongful termination lawsuit, but I have no idea if you’re in the mood for a long, drawn-out legal battle.

    Best of luck.

  2. May I just go on record as saying “Yup, I knew it”? 🙂

Seriously, I’ve never congratulated someone on coming out, so… is that even appropriate?

    Um. OK. Carry on. 🙂
