Writer’s Thoughts…

You know, being in this Radio/TV Writing Class has been fascinating, especially when I get to critique other commercials and read all sorts of insane ideas. It’s just amazing what some people will try to pass off for a “script”.

For example: we had a 30-second radio spot assigmnent for “Ache Eze”, a joint/muscle pain reliever that comes in a new, cream roll-on version that won’t stain. I read one of the ads, and saw the following notation…

SFX: APPLYING CREAM

…and I tried to hold back the laughter. When I told Greg about it, I lost it completely. How in the world are you supposed to simulate this sound effect? Does it sound like someone making yogurt, or someone opening a fresh can of tennis balls (you know, when the air escapes)? Baffles the hell out of me…

Oh well, at least I’ll just turn in my work and hope it’s halfway decent. Anyone want to read stuff, let me know and I’ll send stuff over.
