The Big Apple Awaits

So, next week, I head north.  New York City, where they don’t make Pace picante sauce.  Remember that commercial?

Anyway… I don’t have that much of a set agenda.  I’m not going to tell you too much about the trip until after I get back.  I’d rather save the recap for when I have more time to talk about it.  Let’s just say for now that I really need a week away from work and away from this town.  I’ve deserved it.

I hope to meet up with a few friends up that way too, so that will be pretty awesome.

TTFN.

Well, here’s how it all went…

Tuesday: “The Big Bang Theory” was awesome! Look for the episode I’m at to air on 3/24 on CBS. The session took roughly three hours to do.

Wednesday: Went to “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at the El Capitan on Hollywood Boulevard. Anne Heche and Joel McHale were the guests, along with the musical group Coheed and Cambria. I’m not much on newer rock music, I’m afraid. It was fun being in a cramped studio… didn’t make my studio that I usually work in feel too bad.

Thursday: CBS Television City. Saw two episodes (last Thursday and Friday) of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. I got a hat and Greg got a t-shirt. Booyeah! Thursday the funny Wanda Sykes was a guest. It was great. Did you know that his audience seats only 113? Yes, that’s Studio 56 for you, which used to be an upstairs rehearsal hall at CBS TVC.

Friday: Back to Warner Brothers for “Two and a Half Men”. This episode also airs 3/24 on CBS. Great story and funny jokes in this episode. Four hours later, we were laughed to death and spent.

…And this is where the trip turns nightmarish. Somehow, while at WB, my wallet falls out of my pants. We get back to the hotel room, and I found out it was gone. I called WB Security and gave them my info and filed a lost and found report. I am so worried you couldn’t even imagine at this point.

Saturday: Didn’t do much of anything. Decided to go to the beach in Santa Monica to try and take my mind off of things.

Sunday: Repeat last part of Saturday. Went to the Paley center again and did have some fun watching lots of rarities there. And then, at 1:00 AM, on to the sidewalk outside of CBS Television City. 6:00 AM comes and me, Greg and Chris got Order of Arrival slips #8, #9 and #10 for Price is Right. We leave, have breakfast, come back. Security asks for my ID, I tell them what happened last Friday night. They refuse me admittance onto the lot. I was devastated, but I didn’t make a scene fully realizing that they are within their rights to refuse me admittance. So, we all left and went home.

Later that afternoon, WB Security calls and says that my wallet was found. I go to Burbank and pick it up.

Tuesday: Fly home.

It’s a trip I’ll never forget. It did convince me of one thing. If I want to be truly happy, southern CA is the place that I need to be. Maybe not immediately, but sometime in the future. I just fit in there.

But don’t be sad that I didn’t get to see Price, I’m just happy I got my wallet back in one piece!

Nick in Jeopardy!

No, that title doesn’t mean anything dramatic.

I should say that I’m on Jeopardy, well, in the audience at least.  That’s right, the shows that Greg, Chris and I attended are airing this Thursday and Friday night, check your local listings.  They took an audience shot at the end of the Thursday show, so maybe you’ll see us there with Chris.

Set your VCRs/DVRs/whatever now!

Well, here’s an update from lovely Norfolk… got so busy out in LA that I hardly had time for an update, even by phone.

Price is Right in person was a blast! It is so much smaller in person than it was on TV, as expected. The show runs so smooth, as expected. Bob looks so much older in person, as expected. Be sure to watch on April 4th, Greg, Chris and I are all in the front row, camera left, next to contestant’s row!

Jeopardy! is a well oiled machine itself, and it was great to see, those shows we saw air June 28th and 29th, a long ways off. So, they’re winding their season down.

It was hard to leave California… for once in a long time, it was a place where I felt like I fit in, like I knew where I was going at all times and what I was doing, and there was always something to do.

We’re going back in August, we’ll make that happen for sure.

We got in Norfolk at 11:00-ish PM local time on Wednesday night, on Thursday, we have seen the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, the Downtown Tunnel, the Monitor Merrimac Bridge-Tunnel, and other stuff. We’re planning on visiting Virginia Beach and the US 58 terminus tomorrow, and on Saturday, renting a car (again) and driving up to spend the day in Washington, DC (a last minute decision since we found out it’s just three hours drive away).

All in all, it’s been a good vacation, a nice rest and plenty of discovery, and dont’ worry, we have a lot of pictures, they’ll be posted after the vacation is over… it’s just not the time to try to post anything, too much to do. 😛

So, it’s the day before the magic vacation begins… and I’m so excited!

I think I need to get a paid account again… if I do, you’ll be seeing a lot of voice posts from me here during the trip, and maybe some photos too in addition

And that’s done. So, you’ll be hearing a lot of voice posts over the next few days while I’m on vacation in LA and in Norfolk/VA Beach.

If I have any more thougts before I leave, I’ll let you know, otherwise, happy landings to me and Greg! 🙂
